Investments to improve the city, freeze taxes and consolidate the economic reactivation of Alcorcón, keys to the 2023 Municipal Budgets

"We are entering the last year of this mandate with our fourth Budgets, once again, surpassing the stage of eternal budget extensions due to the incapable management of the PP", pointed out the mayoress of Alcorcón, Natalia de Andrés, who explained that in the Local Government Board has approved the project of Municipal Budgets 2023.

In this sense, he recalled that "this year will be marked by the uncertainty of the international situation, but also by the determined commitment to public spending and protection of families, as well as the need to incorporate the climate issue to government actions in which the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and the REACT-EU funds are particularly relevant.

"In investments, this issue has marked our 2023 Budgets, not only to change the production model and the way of living in cities, but also to continue accompanying the economic recovery with the #PlanReactiva", he explained.

Tax Freeze

Regarding income, "this Government Team has once again opted for the freezing of taxes, given that we have a level of collection that allows us to meet the needs of our neighbors with solvency, avoiding one more burden on the situation current economy”. In this sense, he has highlighted the increase in the contribution of State revenue to our municipality, by 3%, reaching 56 million euros.

Budgets 'that think of people and our neighborhoods'

Regarding expenses, "our Budgets continue to think about the people, in our neighborhoods, about facing the present while looking closely at the future of the city" and has indicated social care as the priority of the municipal government.

“We tripled the aid to families for expenses associated with housing, we increased social emergency funds by 33%, home help increased by 33% and Food at Home increased by 60%, in a commitment to care that it is not only a commitment on the part of this Government Team but a right that has been established as such in the Social Care Ordinance”, he stressed.

In relation to the health area, he highlighted “the qualitative leap that we have made by presenting in this department some Budgets by objectives, pioneers in the city, and related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

In this way, Alcorcón will work on SDG 3, to guarantee a healthy life and promote the well-being of all at all ages, for which an expense in different lines of work of 1,813,226.70 euros is projected: and in the SDG 16 , in order to promote societies for sustainable development, facilitate access to justice for all and build effective institutions that are accountable, for which 254,434.19 euros are contemplated.

In terms of employment and economic activity, he has indicated that "we continue to bet on a policy of accompaniment and support for our local productive fabric and the promotion of European policies that make us move towards a cleaner and more sustainable economy, for which we reinforce the items that have to do with European funds, in terms of digitization and modernization of trade”.

Investments to accompany the economic recovery

"The ReActiva Alcorcón Plan has been a turning point in the management of common areas, for enjoyment and recreation in our city", he recalled, "the interventions in neighbourhoods, the recovery of infrastructures, as well as security and maintenance, they will continue to be a priority for this government, to which the momentum of the Next Generation European Funds is now added”, he stated.

The mayoress has highlighted some investments such as the works to expand the pedestrian crossing over the C5 and which will give way to Avenida de Villaviciosa and Calle Argentina, the renaturation of spaces and common areas, the installation of photovoltaic panels in municipal buildings or the implementation of Zones of Low Emissions in 2023, works on sports facilities and infrastructures or the reform of the Municipal School of Music, among others.

Consolidation of the economic-financial situation of the City Council

The mayoress has valued "the financial economic data that, with a lot of work, rigor and seriousness, this Government Team has achieved in 3 years", with data such as that "we have lowered the 161% debt on current income of the previous Government , to 99% with which we will end this year or the reduction from 140 to 10 days in the average period of payment of invoices to suppliers according to AIREF data”.

Likewise, it has highlighted that "account 413, of obligations pending application to the Budget, has dropped from 29,682,266'73 euros (2017 settlement data), 21,935,241.08 euros (2018 settlement data), 28,497,265'22 euros (2019 settlement data) to one million and a half, one million nine hundred, of our settlements”.

"In short, we do more and better, attending to real needs while improving the economic-financial situation of the City Council, so weighed down by the inaction of the PP in two government legislatures," he stated.

In this way, "these 2023 Budgets are the ones that consolidate a way of doing Government, open, transparent and hand in hand with the residents of Alcorcón, authentic protagonists of these accounts whose objective is to consolidate an Alcorcón attended, green, inclusive and habitable of which we feel deeply proud and proud”.

After the deadline for the presentation of individual votes, the initial approval of the 2023 Municipal Budgets will proceed, after which a period of allegations and the request for authorization from the Ministry of Finance will be opened, so that the deadlines are going at a very good pace. , as highlighted by the mayoress.
