The José Hierro Library, which belongs to the Network of Public Libraries of the Community of Madrid, was inaugurated in 2003 in Calle Rafaela Ybarra, located in the district of Usera.
The centre, designed by architects Ignacio Ábalos and Juan Herrero, has 259 reading stations and 47 for Internet use.
It has free wifi access throughout the library, organises a multitude of activities throughout the year: workshops, courses, storytelling, exhibitions... and is open to the public with extensive opening hours, including weekends and public holidays, which are extended even further during exam periods.
